Meet The Other Half: Britt

Updated: Jan 18

In early 2017 I was working in a beige cubicle, didn't have a passport, had never taken any meaningful trips and couldn't fathom how I ever would be able to -- between work, adulting and funds...I was miserable.

Struck with a sudden sense of dread about the aforementioned situation - midway through that year, I decided "to hell with this" and I got myself a CapitalOne Venture travel card, booked my first international flight (and whatever an AirBnB was) with said card - then set about getting my passport (hopefully in time) for my 4 day city break to Edinburgh for the Halloween/Samhuinn Fire Festival and my "West Highlands Lochs & Castles" tour.

Thankfully it arrived in time and I excitedly/anxiously boarded my flight in the late hours of the day following one of my best friends' weddings -- improperly dressed for a Scottish autumn, with a sprained left foot (from going too hard with the Cotton Eyed Joe in 4" red suede heels after MANY whiskey sours).

The moment I set foot in Scotland, I knew I belonged here.

It pulled me in instantly and hasn't left me since.

On day 2 of my city break, limping for 2 miles with iced coffee and a scone clutched desperately to my chest, I was 10 min late for my Rabbie's tour - I was greeted by my tall, blue-eyed, kilted, deep voiced Scottish tour guide with a cheeky smile and "You must be Britt then, looks like you'll be my co-pilot for the day."

I spent the rest of that day trying to figure out how on earth this was suddenly my life and how I'd never be able to go back to the old one.

Fast forward several years, 2 weddings across 2 countries and a LOT of stories/struggles - here I am helping that very same tour guide bring his charm, knowledge, cheeky nature and love of his homeland to every one of our clients.

Come along on an adventure with us ;)
